An Ozarks Walk In January

Even though many of the pretty flowers are gone, January is a great time for a winter walk. If you can get the family together your kids will love getting out, and it's a great time to talk and connect.

You'll find many plants along the trail that have left us with beautiful tufts that are very durable. Dried flower bouquets are considered special in many city stores and fetch pretty high prices. The nice thing about collecting your own is that not only will you get some great winter exercise, you can also pick just the perfect arrangement for your mood.

Be sure to carry along your pocket knife or some snippers. The stems can be kind of tough. Also, watch closely for thorns – you can shave them off if you see them first.

Do you know the native poisonous plants in your area? Most generally there aren't very many, but picking something you are allergic to could ruin a memorable day.
